As most of you know, my old girl Missy has been missing since just before Christmas. It's now 4 weeks and I was told by a professional pet sitter that 4 weeks is the average that a pet will return, and after that time it's very rare. She suggests that pet owners have a little farewell ceremony.
It's very sad, I never expected to lose her this way and had always planned to have her cremated and put with Pirate, in an urn on my bookshelf. Missy had been around longer than DH.
Anyway, I'm now thinking I'm going to have to say my farewells.
We've looked for her at all hours of the day and night and wee hours of the mornings. I've put posters up, contacted the pound, SPCA and spoken to the gardeners, cleaners, guards and kids in the complex, I've even given a poster to the guards in the complex across the street. We've walked into creepy bushland, along the beach and even climbed into the gardens on the outskirts of the complex.
If she's with someone, I trust she is safe, happy and being well looked after. If she's passed, I trust that she's content, happy and with Pirate. _________________ Many blessings,

Nicole, I feel for you. There is nothing worse than not knowing. I am so sorry that you have had such a long and fruitless wait. Still, if Missy has chosen her own path then you can be happy that she did it her way. _________________ Anne

Thanks ladies.
Maree, I was thinking along those lines because she loved the garden and outdoors, it's only appropriate to plant something to honour her. _________________ Many blessings,

Nicole, I'm so, so sorry for your loss. As the other ladies have said, you can take some comfort in knowing that you have given Missy a wonderful life, and filled her life with as much love as she filled yours.
Sometimes pets choose to leave the home so that they can pass without putting the pain of the actual passing onto their carers.
I love the idea of your farewell ceremony and of planting a tree or doing something in your garden to honour her. I'm sure she would love that.
Huge ((((((hugs)))))), Nicole. _________________ ~ Letting go is not the same as giving up ~
